Piastri opened up on the mental strength required to bounce back from his Australian Grand Prix

Oscar Piastri has explained the “best way” he plans to go about his 2025 championship fight, as he opened up on the mental strength required to bounce back from his Australian Grand Prix disappointment at the start of the year.

The McLaren driver closed to within three points of team mate Lando Norris at the summit of the Drivers’ Championship standings after securing a dominant victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend.

After sliding off the track in treacherous conditions at the season-opener in Australia, Piastri has been a model of consistency since with his Bahrain success adding to his Grand Prix win in China.

Asked about his mental strength to recover from what happened in Australia, he said: “I think it is a strength of mine, yes. I think one of hopefully a few strengths of mine, but it is something that I have kind of recognised myself as a point of difference and is something that I’ve tried to work on.
